Teacher: Leila Kamali

Leila has been teaching yoga for 15 years. Her classes are informed by 3 key principles: (1) that yoga asana should support us in our everyday lives, and should therefore feel good! (2) that profound healing is possible when we tap into our breath, and (3) that a supportive sense of community can be generated by consensual and compassionate touch (Leila is known for her hands-on assists!).

Leila also works specifically with pregnant and postnatal people, through yoga and as a birth and postnatal doula. She is also an academic who lectures and writes on topics relating to race, colonialism and diaspora. She is currently developing offerings for individuals, small groups and workplaces which draw her anti-racism practice and embodiment skills together to support people in a holistic way in the current times.

Leila is profoundly grateful for the life-changing wisdom she has learned with a number of teachers in the world of yoga. These include Ana Forrest, Jambo Truong, Sandra Robinson, Cat Allen, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, and Judith Hanson Lasater.
